Who reviews this site
Certification pages on ASE Prep are reviewed by the ASE Prep editorial team before publication, and the long-form guides carry the publisher byline Urban Algorithm LLC. Both are the same small team. Review means checking every fact against a primary source and recording where it came from, not adding an unverified opinion.
Nobody here claims to hold an ASE certification, and this site is not affiliated with or endorsed by ASE, the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence. The authority this page stands on is the verification process below, not a credential.
How data is sourced and maintained
Fees, question counts, time limits, work-experience requirements, and recertification mechanics come from ASE's own published materials on ase.com: the per-test pages and the downloadable series study guides. Each certification entry on this site stores the exact source URL it was read from, the date it was checked, and a note describing the check itself, so any figure on the site can be traced back to the document it came from. We do not reprint a competitor's compiled table, and we do not estimate a number that ASE has not published.
A numeric fact that has not been verified against a primary source ships as a clearly labeled "pending verification" readout rather than a plausible-looking guess. That is why some cells in the 45-exam matrix are blank instead of filled.
Every page carries an updated date, and this site's freshness policy
re-verifies published facts every 90 days. ASE adjusts
test fees and refreshes task lists on its own schedule, so a page that falls out of
that window is queued for re-verification, not left to go stale.
The statistics page is this site's own original data study: the fee for every verified ASE test, with the min, median, and average computed at build time from those rows. No figure on it is hand-typed.
How we decide what to publish
We publish the public structure of an exam: what it covers, what it costs, how long it runs, and how it renews. We do not publish real test questions, answers, or diagnostic scenarios, and we do not reproduce material ASE treats as proprietary.
The clearest example is the L1 Advanced Engine Performance Specialist test. It is built around ASE's composite-vehicle reference materials, simulated vehicle data unique to ASE rather than public automotive fact, so ASE Prep builds no L1 page, matrix row, tool input, or practice content at all. ASE administers it; that single fact is all we state about it. This is also why the matrix covers 45 tests rather than 46.
Last full verification
The newest verified fact on this site is dated . This date is computed from the site's own content, not hardcoded, and moves automatically as pages get re-verified.
