What does an ASE certification exam cost across all 45 certifications?
How this was collected
We read the registration fee for every in-scope ASE test directly from ASE's own published materials on ase.com, either the per-test page or the downloadable study guide for that series, and record the source URL and the date we checked it on the certification entry itself. A test enters this dataset only once its fee has been verified that way; a test whose fee we have not confirmed is left out rather than estimated. L1 Advanced Engine Performance Specialist is excluded from this site entirely, so it is not counted here.

Across the whole family, ASE prices tests at 2 distinct price points: $62 for 42 tests, $124 for 3 tests. The headline number a technician plans around is therefore the median, not the average: the average is pulled upward by the small number of advanced-level tests.

Limitations
- Figures are ASE's published per-test registration fee, not a technician's total out-of-pocket cost: the per-registration fee ASE charges on top of the test fee, employer reimbursement, and study materials are all excluded.
- A test only appears once its fee has been read against a primary source on ase.com and dated; a test with an unverified fee is omitted rather than estimated.
- L1 Advanced Engine Performance Specialist is deliberately excluded from this site entirely, so it is absent from this dataset and from the counts below.
